Wind, rain, and trees?
wow.. three post in one day. Dont get used to it.
the hurricane cordinator for clear channel had me get a hold of the engineers at Baton Rouge earlier today. They lost several stations and needed help getting back on the air with the backup system. We were able to get all but one station back up. Their is a tree blocking the access to the transmitter and the satelite decoder needs to be rebooted. The poor guys out their have have a long day. We’ll just have get some rest and try agaiin tommrow. I listened a little to one off their stations, WJBO and it was like reliving Dolly all over again. One of the first things to go in a storm like this is the power. I’ve yet to see one of those fancy tv’s with a battery compartment. Many people turn to the radio when their tv goes out… so getting these stations back on the air was a high priority. Hopefully things will be easier tommrow.
New Wedding Page
I was thinking, i don’t think i ever shared the wedding videos with anyone.. so if you have nothing better to do with your time.. here you go….
Interview on NPR
Got up early this morning to head to the station at 7am. being a holiday it was deserted but NPR called me on friday needing to rent a studio. I though, hum.. i like listening to NPR, sure i’ll do it.
In the midst of all the stuff goinig on with the DNC, it’s so nice to hear something new and refreshing for a change. I typically spend my morning drive to work listening to NPR but the local statation here airs “Morning Edition” I like NPR half because it’s a relife from the music i have to listen to every day, and half because it’s not just entertainment, it’s informative without the spin of the local newstalk station of which cluster name shall rename nameless.
Nothing better to do
It’s a saturday afternoon, i’m at the church doing sound for a wedding where the bride appears to be missing. I decided to tickle my brain (thanks marc) and see what was going on in the interwebs. I found this page on my cousin’s site. In there somewhere were links to his photo album where their were images of his house at the ranch. i can count the times my brother and i spent out their. Strangely though, it all looked so unfamilar. I can’t ever remember the kitchen looking like that, and i was suprised to see their was a back porch. I remember the living room and the fact that they had a satelite dish. Not the fancy Ku-band dish network recievers you have now a days. This was one of those 3 mettter C-Band dishes with the hydro-drive steering.
It’s jus so strange how some memories fade. Or maybe i’m just getting old? Groom is conversing with the minister, it’s 15 minutes past. i wonder if i have time for a water break.
